"Syngi, syngi, svanir mínir, svo hann Hlynur vakni."

"Sing, sing. my svans, sing Prince Hlini awake."

Þessa dagana eru svanir og aðrar persónur úr sögunni um Hlin kóngsson að hlaðast upp þar sem ég hef verið að vinna verkefni  í eitt af þessum fallegu gömlu timburhúsum í Reykjavík.

Útskurðurinn er nánast búinn en því loknu fara öll þessi stykki suður þar sem þau verða sett saman í lokrekkju.

These days, swans and other characters from the Icelandic fairy tale of Prince Hlini are piling up as I have been working on a project for a beautiful old wooden house in Reykjavík. The woodcarving is almost done and when it is, all the parts will be put together to make a build in bed in a children room.

This is one of our better known fairy tales and it tells of a prince who disappears in a forest, and the brave girl who sets off to find him and rescue him from the clutches of two evil ogresses. If she is to succeed on her quest, she will have to use all her wits……..and like all fairy tales of cause it ends well 🙂
